News 101

Watch our students almost every Saturday morning during the school year on the local NBC affiliate, WMC-TV Action News 5. Each week during the 8 a.m. newscast, a GHS-TV reporter and videographer produce a local story that’s aired to the entire WMC-TV viewing area.

This weekly talk show is hosted and produced by the students of GHS-TV. Our station’s longest-running show, Crosstalk spotlights people, places, events and issues here in Shelby County and beyond. Guests have included legendary composer Charles Strouse, iconic record producer Sam Phillips, civil rights leaders Terrence Roberts and Benjamin Hooks and Saturday Night Live star Chris Parnell.

Wake Up, Germantown!

GHS-TV students bring you the latest news from Germantown High School and all over Shelby County in this award-winning newscast. Along with the news of the day, students produce segments on sports, entertainment, politics, technology and social issues.

  • Extended versions produced bi-weekly & posted through our YouTube channel.

Living Well

Spend 30 minutes with some of the top medical minds in the Mid-South. Host and Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital CEO William Kenley discusses health tips and wellness trends on a different topic each month. GHS-TV students crew the action behind-the-scenes and produce a field report for each show.

Tennessee Talks

Veteran educator and GHS-TV political analyst Ruth Dunning welcomes some of the top politicians and newsmakers in our state. Past guests have included US Senator Bob Corker, Congressman Stephen Fincher, national education advocate Michelle Rhee, Memphis Mayor AC Wharton, Shelby County Mayor Mark Lutrell and Shelby County Schools Superintendent Dorsey Hopson. GHS-TV students help produce this monthly show and crew each position behind-the-scenes.

Inspiring Leaders

Learn about leadership from local citizens who are making a difference in Shelby County. Leadership Germantown Executive Director Donna Chandler Newman hosts this monthly show that highlights leaders and organizations from all over our region. GHS-TV students help produce this show and crew each position behind-the-scenes.

Let’s Talk Money

Hosts and financial experts Kelly Bolton and Harvey Cook share tips, trends and stories of success on this monthly talk show. Bolton and Cook welcome guests from various industries. GHS-TV students help produce this show and crew each position behind-the-scenes.

Watch veteran storyteller Lynnie Mirvis each month as she entertains children from around the Mid-South with stories, songs and games. GHS-TV students contact local day care centers to be featured on each episode as well as all the producing and other behind-the-scenes duties.

Live Coverage of the Germantown Festival

Tune in to GHS-TV every Germantown Festival Sunday for this live show produced from the Festival grounds. This three-hour celebration is hosted and produced by the students of GHS-TV. Our student hosts welcome guests and performers from all over the Mid-South. The show also features student reports on the artisans, organizations, food, games and traditions that make the Festival such a popular event.

Election Night

GHS-TV's award-winning Election Night coverage has been a staple of the community for nearly three decades. This live production features results from local and national elections, a breakdown of the closest races, political analysis from the student anchors, reports from all over the area and interviews with candidates across Shelby County.
